So.....last week we had our Super Fantastic Family Adventure Weekend! In all 10 families came to the scenic surroundings of the Camp Greentop, situated in the Catoctin National Park, MD. Each family received the customary/legendary 'Greentop Welcome' with every member of staff cheering and waving to our guests!
After our delicious dinner on Friday evening, we kicked off the festivities with a Dance in the Rec. Hall with our resident Dj's Philly H, Matty B & Nikki G.
The fun continued the whole way through to Saturday with the majority our families choosing to make Candy Caramel Apples with Chef Nikki aka Dj Nikki G, not only can she drop beats but she can drop Apples into Caramel!
In the afternoon Chef Matt Blake, did bake, along with several trainee sous chefs, the delicious Pizzas that we would later have for dinner that night, mmmm.....scrumptuous! Rumor has it that Matt went into the Pizza business just to make some dough! The other rumor is that Matt hates waiting on Pizza delivery guys, one time he asked a server at a Pizza place, "Will my pizza be long?" They replied, "No sir, it'll be round."
In the afternoon, the action packed events continued with the vast majority of our families availing of the opportunity to visit the nearby picturesque waterfall, Cunningham Falls and to cool off in the lake.
Later that night, we had our customary Camp fire, with each family performing their own skit, dance routine and even a haiku! And now for some haiku based humor....Haiku's are easy, but sometimes they don't make sense, refrigerator!
The Camp fire was as usual, awesome, even those families who weren't best prepared made last minute impromptu performances, which only served to highlight the fun loving nature of the weekend and everyone's willingness to have a a spectacular time! So as we sung and danced the night away, the fire died down to it's embers which provided the perfect conditions to roast the marshmallows for our smoars! A delicious, tasty bedtime snack!
Sunday morning arrived and we were all left questioning where the weekend went? The overall consensus was that 'Family Adventure Weekend' was a smash-hit and was thoroughly enjoyed by our guests and host counselors alike. After breakfast, we completed our final activity, making our Camp Greentop Family Quilt! Where each family got the opportunity to make their own personalized square and whilst chronicling the weekends activities!
From all here at CGT we would like to thank our guest families for helping to kick start our summer! If every session was like the weekend it is safe to say the Summer of 2011 will be tremendous!
Below are a selection of photographs from the weekend.....Enjoy!!!
